THIS IACP (INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CHIEFS OF POLICE) TRAINING KEY DISCUSSES THE STEPS AN OFFICER SHOULD TAKE TO ENSURE COOPERATION AND COMMUNICATION WITH VICTIMS AND WITNESSES.
Abstract
FIRST, EACH OFFICER SHOULD PROVIDE THE ATTENTIVE SERVICE NEEDED TO PROPERLY RESOLVE EMERGENCY SITUATIONS. SECOND, HE SHOULD PROVIDE VICTIMS AND WITNESSES WITH THE ORIENTATION THAT THEY NEED TO PARTICIPATE COMFORTABLY AND EFFECTIVELY IN THE INVESTIGATIVE AND LEGAL PROCESS. THE GOAL OF SUCH EFFORTS IS TO GAIN A MORE COOPERATIVE PUBLIC, WITHOUT WHICH THE SUCCESS - AND MEANING - OF POLICE ACTIVITY IS LIMITED. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
