This Fiscal Year 2015 Data Analysis Report for the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Victim Compensation Formula Grant Program provides statistics and information on the population characteristics of those who sought victim compensation in the states, the victim compensation application process, and victimization types.
Abstract
In its concluding remarks, the report notes that 2015 has seen a turning point in the U.S. Justice Department's Office for Victims of Crime's (OVC's) understanding of the various ways in which victim compensation programs support crime victims nationwide. The data that grantees have entered in the revised State Performance Report questionnaire show how many victims sought benefits for themselves and their families, thus providing information on the demand for reimbursement of critical crime victim expenses. The revisions also enable OVC to provide a more precise description of these crime victims. This enables the agency and its grantees to have a better understanding of the diverse population they serve. Overall, the revisions have given OVC new insight into how its grantees allocate their funds. 20 figures and 7 tables
