These articles, columns, news items, and curriculum focus on the nature and incidence of domestic assault, particularly violence against women and children, in Canada and on potential actions to address the problems.
Abstract
Individual articles describe the role of sexism and systematic inequality in causing and perpetuating violence against women and children; the use of the program Magic Circle to facilitate the positive development of student self-concept; and other approaches to educating children and adolescents about responsibility, the effects of gender stereotyping on behavior, and conflict resolution. Further papers focus on child sexual abuse; the ways in which children's reading materials teach sex role stereotypes; the initiatives of Canada's Ministry of Education with respect to domestic assault; and a clinic that provides free legal and counseling services to women who are victims of spouse abuse, sexual assault, and childhood sexual abuse. Conflict resolution curriculum, resource lists, and photographs
