WORKLOAD DATA FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF VIRGINIA COURT SERVICE UNITS FOR FISCAL YEAR 1978 ARE PRESENTED BY STATE DISTRICT AND ACCORDING TO JUVENILE OR ADULT PROBATION/SUPERVISION.
Abstract
IN 1978, THER WERE 88,974 INTAKE CASES REFERRED TO COURT SERVICE UNITS. INTAKE CASES ACCOUNTED FOR 67.3 PERCENT OF 132.247 SERVICES COMPLETED. THERE WERE 2,895 TRANSFER REPORTS COMPLETED, REPRESENTING 14.6 PERCENT OF 19,772 REPORTS COMPLETED (SOCIAL HISTORY, TRANSFER, ADDENDUM, AND FOSTER CARE REPORTS). SOCIAL HISTORY REPORTS ACCOUNTED FOR 59.6 PERCENT OF ALL REPORTS, ADDENDUM REPORTS FOR 16.1 PERCENT, AND FOSTER CARE REPORTS FOR 9.7 PERCENT. JUVENILE PROBATION/SUPERVISION COMPRISED 15.653 CASES OR 91.1 PERCENT OF ALL CASES COMPLETED, AND ADULT PROBATION/SUPERVISION ACCOUNTED FOR THE REMAINING 1,534 CASES COMPLETED. THERE WERE 1,195 CHILDREN RELEASED FROM THE DIRECT CARE OF THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS, 3,886 FAMILIES RELEASED FROM FAMILY COUNSELING SERVICES, AND 1,233 JUVENILES DISCHARGED FROM AFTERCARE SUPERVISION. THE SUBSTANTIVE PORTION OF THE REPORT TABULATES DATA BY STATE DISTRICT ON CASES UNDER SUPERVISION, TOTAL CLIENTS SERVED, AND INTAKES COMPLETED DURING FISCAL YEAR 1978 FOR JUVENILES UNDER SUPERVISION (OFFICIAL PROBATION, UNOFFICIAL SUPERVISION, AFTERCARE IN DIRECT CARE, AND AFTERCARE IN THE COMMUNITY) AND FOR ADULTS UNDER SUPERVISION (OFFICIAL PROBATION, UNOFFICIAL SUPERVISION, AND FAMILY COUNSELING).
