BACKGROUND MECHANICS, AND TYPES OF SOUND SPECTROGRAPHY, USED TO PROVIDE AN ACCURATE AND RELIABLE VISUAL REPRESENTATION OF THE SPOKEN WORD.
Abstract
THE SOUND SPECTROGRAPH HAS THE CAPABILITY OF RECEIVING THE SPOKEN WORD, ANALYZING THE SOUND, AND RECORDING THE ACOUSTIC PATTERNS IN THE DIMENSIONS OF TIME, FREQUENCY, AND AMPLITUDE. THE RESULTING HARD COPY SPECTROGRAM OF THE VOICE CAN BE USED FOR VISUAL COMPARISONS. THE BENEFITS OF SOUND SPECTROGRAPHY AND JUDICIAL ACCEPTANCE OF SUCH EVIDENCE ARE BRIEFLY DISCUSSED.
