GROUP OF LONDON WOMEN PROVIDE SUPPORT AND COMFORT TO WIVES WHOSE HUSBANDS ARE INCARCERATED.
Abstract
THESE VOLUNTEER WELFARE GROUPS AID WOMEN WHOSE HUSBANDS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AND IMPRISONED AT EACH STAGE OF THE PROCEEDING. THE WELFARE GROUP ACTS AS LIAISON BETWEEN THE WIVES AND THE PRISON AUTHORITIES BY GATHERING INFORMATION AND ARRANGING VISITS. THE PRISONERS' WIVES OFTEN HAVE FINANCIAL AND EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS AND THE VOLUNTEER GROUPS HELP THEM WITH SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS, HOUSING CRISES, AND CHILD DISCIPLINE PROBLEMS.
