THIS REPORT IS A FIRST DIRECTORY AND LOCATOR OF VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS AND RESOURCES INVOLVED SPECIFICALLY IN THE ARENA OF PREVENTION OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY AND THE DIVERSION OF CHILDREN FROM THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM.
Abstract
THE SET OF PROGRAMS INCLUDED WERE IDENTIFIED THROUGH A 1972-73 QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY OF 293 PROGRAMS NATIONALLY THE 88 PROGRAM RESPONDENTS COLLECTIVELY REPRESENT AT LEAST 150 YEARS OF VOLUNTEER SERVICE. PROGRAM ABSTRACTS ARE PRESENTED FOR 33 OF THE SURVEY RESPONDENTS. IN ADDITION TO BASIC PROGRAM DEMOGRAPHIC DATA, INFORMATION IS PROVIDED ON THE GEOGRAPHICAL AREA SERVED, PURPOSE, MODE OF ORGANIZATION, PROGRAM STATUS, FUNDING PATTERNS, TYPE OF CLIENTS, TYPE AND NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS, PROGRAM SERVICES, EVALUATION, TRANSPOSABILITY OF PROGRAM, AND FURTHER AVAILABLE READING MATERIALS DIRECTORY LISTINGS OF THE TOTAL 88 PROGRAMS ARE PRESENTED ALPHABETICALLY BY STATE AND BY COMMUNITY WITHIN EACH STATE. DATA IS INCLUDED ON PROGRAM TITLE, ADMINISTRATOR, ADDRESS, AND TELEPHONE NUMBER. A LIST OF RESOURCE ORGANIZATIONS AND AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY ARE ALSO PROVIDED.
