Abstract
NARRATIVE AND TABULAR INFORMATION IS PRESENTED CONCERNING THE OFFICE OF THE GENERAL COUNSEL IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE OFFICE OF FINANCE AND MANAGEMENT, DEPARTMENTAL RESOURCES (BUDGET APPROPRIATIONS, POLICE SALARIES, AND CIVILIAN SALARIES), THE FIELD OPERATIONS BUREAU, THE EIGHT DISTRICTS SERVED BY THE DEPARTMENT, NIGHT SUPERVISORS, THE CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION, AND THE TRAFFIC AND SPECIAL OPERATIONS DIVISION. THE RESERVE CORPS, THE YOUTH DIVISION (JUVENILE ARRESTS), THE ANNUAL AWARDS PROGRAM, LOCATIONS OF POLICE FACILITIES, THE ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES BUREAU, AND THE PERSONNEL DIVISION (DISTRIBUTION OF PERSONNEL, POLICE BY RANK AND UNIT, AND PERSONNEL ACTIONS) ARE ALSO COVERED, AS WELL AS THE LABOR RELATIONS DIVISION, THE TRAINING DIVISION, THE POLICE AND FIRE CLINIC DIVISION, THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT DIVISION, THE COMMUNITY RELATIONS DIVISION, THE TECHNICAL SERVICES BUREAU, THE PROPERTY DIVISION AND COMMUNICATIONS AND DATA PROCESSING. FINALLY, THE REPORT ADDRESSES THE FLEET MANAGEMENT DIVISION, THE INVESTIGATIVE SERVICES DIVISION, AND THE DISCIPLINARY REVIEW DIVISION. POLICE OFFICERS WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THEIR DUTIES ARE LISTED. CRIME AND CLEARANCE DATA FOR INDEX CRIMES (HOMICIDE, RAPE, ROBBERY, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT, BURGLARY, LARCENY, AND AUTOMOBILE THEFT) AND CRIME DATA BY POLICE DISTRICT ARE PROVIDED, ALONG WITH DATA ON ADULT ARRESTS, TRAFFIC ARRESTS, TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS, POLICE VEHICLE ACCIDENTS, STOLEN PROPERTY, INCIDENTS REPORTED TO AND INVESTIGATED BY POLICE, CALLS FOR POLICE SERVICE, WEAPONS USED IN SPECIFIC OFFENSES, AND THE NUMBER OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS ASSAULTED.
