REPORT EXAMINES STRENGTHS, WEAKNESSES, AND OPERATIONS OF CENTERS PROVIDING SERVICES FOR ADJUDICATED AND PREDELINQUENT YOUTH.
Abstract
THE PURPOSES OF THESE ANN ARBOR PROGRAMS ARE TWOFOLD. THE VOCATIONAL RESIDENTIAL CENTER (VRC) PROVIDES COUNSELING PROGRAMS AND RESIDENTIAL SERVICES FOR ADJUDICATED FEMALE JUVENILES. THE CENTER FOR OCCUPATIONAL AND PERSONALIZED EDUCATION PROVIDES A RANGE OF NON-RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS ON EDUCATIONAL, VOCATIONAL, DRIVER'S EDUCATION, AND RECREATIONAL SUBJECTS FOR MALES AND FEMALES REFERRED EITHER FOLLOWING ADJUDICATION OR AT THE REQUEST OF THE SCHOOLS OR WELFARE AGENCIES. THE EVALUATION FOUND THAT THE STRENGTHS OF THE PROGRAMS WERE IN PROVIDING EDUCATIONAL AND JOB SKILLS, IN THEIR HIGHLY COMMITTED STAFF, AND IN THEIR ABILITY TO ACQUIRE FUNDING. THE WEAKNESSES OF THE PROGRAMS WERE INAVAILABILITY OF DATA ON THE PROJECTS AND ON RECIDIVISM RATES, AND IN CHANGES IN THE VRC PROGRAM....BS
