The Waterfront Commission, created by a compact between New York and New Jersey, has licensing, regulatory, and law enforcement jurisdiction over 700 miles of waterfront throughout the Port District.
Abstract
The commission investigated waterfront corruption during the year, breaking up a gambling operation which extended from waterfront terminals to warehouses and social clubs in South Brooklyn, N.Y. It also investigated a case of forgery by a union shop steward, cargo pilferage, fraudulent workers' compensation cases, and other crimes. The report also covers the commission's licensing and registration duties and court cases handled. Data on commission activities are appended.
