Abstract
The lead article describes a visit by President Clinton to South Tucson, the first visit by a sitting President since the town's incorporation in 1939. Another article describes a visit to the Winston-Salem, NC, Weed and Seed site by Attorney General Janet Reno. She announced that Winston-Salem is one of five cities chosen to participate in the Department of Justice's Strategic Approaches to Community Safety Initiative (SACSI), which will develop a new model for comprehensive problem-solving approaches to reducing significant local crime problems. The Winston-Salem SACSI is focusing on juvenile violence. Other articles discuss the Drug Education for Youth "Train the Trainer" conference in Dallas, TX; community development activities in Tampa, FL, Washington, DC, and East Wheeling, WV; an Illinois Weed and Seed site that received a youth gang initiative grant; and the Austin, TX, Civil Air Patrol's program to teach teenagers about aeronautics.
