DISCUSSION OF SOME MAJOR TRENDS IN WEST GERMAN JUVENILE CRIMINALITY AND IN ITS TREATMENT BY THE COURTS, BASED ON THE FEDERAL STATISTICS ON CRIME AND CONVICTIONS FOR 1972.
Abstract
A DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF CONVICTIONS OF JUVENILES IN 1972 BROKE A GENERAL TREND SINCE 1954 OF INCREASING CONVICTIONS. INCREASES IN THE NUMBER OF CONVICTIONS OF MORE THAN ONE YEAR OF INCARCERATION CONTINUED A TREND SINCE 1969. THE NUMBER OF SENTENCES TO JUVENILE DETENTION (JUGENDARREST) HAS BEEN DECREASING SINCE 1969 WHILE MONETARY FINES HAVE INCREASED. ALSO DISCUSSED ARE TRENDS IN SPECIFIC OFFENSES. --IN GERMAN
