This is the West Virginia Juvenile Probation Annual Report for the Year 2000.
Abstract
The Criminal Justice Statistical Analysis Center's mission is to generate statistical and analytical products concerning crime and the criminal justice system. The data are intended for use by the public and by justice system professionals and policymakers in establishing a basis for sound policy and practical decisions for the West Virginia criminal justice system. During the year 2000 there were 9,463 juvenile probation cases, involving 7,041 juveniles, 2,845 offenses, and 8,108 case dispositions. The data presented in this report were generated from the juvenile justice database, which contains information submitted by county juvenile probation offices. Included in the data on delinquent offenders are: gender and race; age at the time of offense; education; living situation; and home county. Offenses are divided into public order and delinquency offenses. Delinquency case dispositions include transfers to adult court. Figures
