The 1990-1992 Comprehensive Plan for Youth Services in Westchester County, New York, describes the youth planning structure, past accomplishments, and future tasks and activities.
Abstract
The Westchester County Youth Board has 18 members, 15 who are over 21 years of age and 3 who are between 16 and 21 years of age. No appointment term exceeds 3 years, and members may not serve more than 2 terms consecutively. The Board is composed of individuals with different economic and educational levels and from diverse occupations and communities in the county. The Board acts as liaison between executive, administrative, and legislative bodies throughout the county to solve youth problems and/or enact youth programs. Past accomplishments have focused on community development and advocacy, coordination and networking, service provision, and program monitoring and evaluation. Tasks and activities planned for the 1990-1992 period include needs assessment, program monitoring and evaluation, Youth Bureau technical assistance, runaway and homeless youth, and community care. Needs assessment areas concern teenage pregnancy and abortions, lead poisoning, youth suicide, AIDS, school enrollment, child abuse, family court petitions, drug abuse, employment, and poverty. A review of other youth-related plans is provided. Appendixes contain additional information on services sponsored by Bureau agencies and municipalities, youth membership committee lists, and other documents relevant to youth planning. 2 tables and 2 figures
