The annual report for the year ending June 30, 1975, of the Western Australia Department of Corrections discusses activities for the period and presents statistical tables relating to prisoners confined in departmental institutions and police jails during that year.
Abstract
The daily average number of prisoners confined during the year showed a decrease of 98.01 over the previous year, which is a continuation of the trend in prison populations over the past 2 years. Changes in staff and facilities are described. Programs are reviewed for the correctional psychiatry branch, the treatment and training branch, the psychology and research section, and the social work and welfare section. Information is presented about the work release program, the community projects unit, and the various correctional facilities managed by the Western Australia Department of Corrections. For each facility, data is given on accommodations, ablution facilities, dining facilities, trade training facilities, education facilities, community projects, recreation, other inmate groups, and escorts. In addition, the name of the superintendent, the location of the facility and date when it was established, the number of staff, the type of inmates held, average population, and facility's size are listed. Tables, charts, a map, and footnotes are supplied.
