This brief video (2 minutes and 33 seconds) explains the federal Crime Victims Fund's (CVF's) services, funding, and management.
Abstract
The CVF was established to ensure that the state and federal governments will have the funding they need to provide services and compensation to crime victims that they need to address the harms (financial, physical, and mental) they have experienced because of the crimes against them. The CVF is funded by fines and restitution payments obtained from offending individuals and companies. The CVF is administered by the U.S. Justice Department's Office for Victims of Crime (OVC). In the video, state representatives explain how the CVF and the OVC have provided the funding and guidance needed to ensure that victims' needs caused by crime are met.
