This futures study addressed the issue of what services community college policing agencies will provide by the year 2002.
Abstract
The sub-issues analyzed here include how community college policing agencies will address physical facility security risks on campus and how they will handle social and fear awareness problems. Five trends in relationship to the issue were developed. They included change in community college crime rates, change in the use of high-tech monitoring devices, change in alcohol abuse problems on campuses, change in the development of college specialized enforcement tactics, and demand of the campus population for better environmental designs related to safety. A hypothetical scenario was developed from the intersection of these trends with several predicted events. Following the development of three alternative strategies, the study formulated a transition management plan that identified key players, a management structure, and technologies to support implementation. 20 notes and 2 appendixes
