Abstract
The first paper provides an overview of the history of child protection services in Illinois and brief descriptions of the child protection services provided by major Illinois agencies. A description of Illinois child-abuse-and-neglect services includes an outline of the provisions of the State reporting statute, prevention/intervention efforts, and funding. Another paper outlines provisions of State child-support laws in the event of a divorce, means of enforcing child support, and aid to families with dependent children. A paper on State day care policies addresses subsidized day care, privately funded day care, licensing, early childhood development, after school care, and employer contributions to day care. Other papers describe State drug and alcohol prevention and treatment services, vocational education for handicapped youth, health care for physical and developmental disabilities, juvenile court procedures, mental health services, efforts at permanency in child placement, and services for pregnant teens and adolescent parents.
