THE REPORT GIVES DETAILS OF PAROLE PERFORMANCE OF ADULT RELEASES IN WISCONSIN AND ANALYZES FOLLOWUP DATA USING CRITERIA SUCH AS LEVEL OF EDUCATION AND TYPE OF CRIME.
Abstract
SUMMARIES OF PAROLE PERFORMANCE DATA WERE REPORTED ON A SAMPLE BASIS BY WISCONSIN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS AND EXTRAPOLATED TO APPROXIMATE ALL RELEASES FOR 1974 THROUGH 1976. THE REPORT IS PART OF PARTICIPATION IN THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON CRIME AND DELINQUENCY'S UNIFORM PAROLE REPORTING SYSTEM. THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PAROLE PERFORMANCE AND VARIOUS PAROLE STATUSES AND SOCIOECONOMIC FACTORS IS DISCUSSED. SOME OF THE FACTORS ANALYZED ARE THE TYPE OF LAST ADMISSION TO A WISCONSIN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTION, TYPE OF RELEASE, AMOUNT OF TIME UNDER FIELD SUPERVISION, TYPE OF OFFENSE, NUMBER OF PRIOR INCARCERATIONS, AND TYPE OF OFFENSE COMMITTED DURING FOLLOWUP PERIOD, AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO THE CURRENT OFFENSE. OTHER FACTORS CONSIDERED ARE SEX OF THE OFFENDER, ETHNIC GROUP, AGE AT RELEASE, AND HIGHEST ACADEMIC GRADE COMPLETED. APPENDIXES DEFINE PAROLE PERFORMANCE AND OFFENSE CATEGORIES SUCH AS OFFENSES AGAINST PERSONS, PROPERTY, SEX, ALCOHOL, AND DRUG OFFENSES. TABLES SUMMARIZE THE MATERIAL DISCUSSED. (RFC)
