THE INSTITUTIONAL STAFF TRAINING PROGRAMS EVALUATED WERE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: STUDIES IN INDIVIDUAL DEVELOPMENT; CULTURAL AWARENESS; CROWD ANALYSIS AND MANAGEMENT; AND LEGAL DEVELOPMENTS.
Abstract
OTHER AREAS COVERED INCLUDED INTER-DEPARTMENTAL AND INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION, PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF SOLUTION STRATEGIES, TRAINING AND COUNSELING, AND WORKING IN FORMAL AND INFORMAL GROUPS. THE EVALUATION OF THESE PROGRAMS, REVOLVED AROUND THREE MAJOR ACTIVITIES - ADMINISTRATION OF EMPLOYEE ATTITUDE SURVEYS PRIOR TO, DURING, AND SIX MONTHS AFTER COMPLETION OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM COURSES; MONITORING OF PROGRAM COURSES; AND REPLICATION OF THE ANALYSIS OF CORRECTIONAL TRAINING NEEDS AND DETERMINATION OF TRAINING GOALS WHICH LED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM. THIS REPORT DESCRIBES THESE EVALUATION ACTIVITIES, DISCUSSES EVALUATION RESULTS, AND MAKES RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING FUTURE PROGRAM PLANS AND OBJECTIVES. EACH PROGRAM IS EVALUATED INDIVIDUALLY. IN GENERAL, IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THE STAFF NEEDS AND WANTS MORE AND BETTER TRAINING. TWENTY-THREE SPECIFIC RECOMMENDATIONS, TOGETHER WITH COMMENTARIES, ARE PRESENTED INCLUDING THE NEED FOR A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM FOR MANAGEMENT STAFF, REQUIRING ALL STAFF TO ATTEND FORMALIZED TRAINING AS PART OF THEIR EMPLOYMENT, AND THE NEED TO DEVELOP A COMPREHENSIVE ORIENTATION PROGRAM FOR NEW EMPLOYEES. AN EXTENSIVE APPENDIX CONTAINS COURSE DESCRIPTIONS AND DATA ON THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS COMPLETING TRAINING, THE TRAINING PROGRAM FUNDING PROPOSAL, A COPY OF THE EMPLOYEE ATTITUDE SURVEY, DATA ON THE QUESTIONNAIRE RESPONSES, AND A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL NEEDS ASSESSMENT REPORT.
