A STATISTICAL SUMMARY IS PROVIDED FOR SELECTED CHARACTERISTICS OF MALES AND FEMALES TERMINATED FROM WISCONSIN ADULT PAROLE SUPERVISION IN CALENDAR YEARS 1973 THROUGH 1977.
Abstract
A TOTAL OF 5,361 PERSONS--5,069 MEN AND 292 WOMEN--WERE REMOVED FROM PAROLE FROM 1973 THROUGH 1977. THE NUMBER OF REMOVALS RANGED FROM 1,000 IN 1975 TO 1,184 IN 1977. OF THE TOTAL, 1,282 (23.9 PERCENT) WERE REVOKED AND REINCARCERATED, WHILE 85 DIED WHILE UNDER SUPERVISION. THE REMAINING 3,994 PERSONS (74.5 PERCENT) WERE TERMINATED SUCCESSFULLY. AMONG THEM WERE 589 PERSONS WHO RECEIVED EARLY DISCHARGES. THE NUMBER OF MEN WHOSE PAROLE WAS REVOKED DECLINED FROM 276 IN 1973 TO 206 IN 1976, BUT ROSE TO 253 IN 1977. THE NUMBER OF WOMEN REVOKED DECLINED STEADILY FROM 14 IN 1973 TO TWO IN 1977. TABULAR DATA ARE PROVIDED FOR TYPE OF TERMINATION, COUNTY OF RESIDENCE, TIME UNDER SUPERVISION, AGE AT TERMINATION, RACE, MARITAL STATUS, RESIDENCE DURING SUPERVISION, EMPLOYMENT, REASON FOR REVOCATION, AND MOST SERIOUS VIOLATION.
