CURRENT NEEDS, PROBLEMS AND PRIORITIES FOR THE CONTROL OF CRIME, AND PROPOSED ACTION PROGRAMS FOR MEETING THOSE NEEDS.
Abstract
THE EAST CENTRAL REGIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLAN INITIALLY REVIEWS POPULATION, LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND ORGANIZATIONAL DATA. THE FOLLOWING DISCUSSION FOCUSES ON THE FIVE DESIGNATED PRIORITIES. THESE INCLUDE UPGRADING LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL, PREVENTING AND CONTROLLING JUVENILE DELINQUENCY, IMPROVING THE DETECTION AND APPREHENSION OF CRIMINALS, PUBLIC EDUCATION AND PARTICIPATION IN CRIME PREVENTION, AND MODERNIZING COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT. PROPOSED ACTION PROGRAMS WITH BUDGET REQUIREMENTS ARE PRESENTED, AND CONTINUING FOR REVIEW OF APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING, A SUMMARY OF REGIONAL PLANNING IS DISCUSSED. INCLUDED ARE PROCEDURES PROGRAMS AND COSTS, THE REGIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE BY-LAWS, A BRIEF DISCUSSION OF A JUVENILE EDUCATION PROGRAM AND APPLICATIONS FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, AND A COURT SURVEY.
