Abstract
A BRIEF HISTORICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBATION SERVICE IS PRESENTED WHICH CONCENTRATES ON METHODS OF WORK, ON THE DECISIONS TO BE MADE ABOUT TREATMENT, AND TREATMENT ITSELF IN BOTH AN INDIVIDUAL AND A GROUP FORM. COMPARISONS ARE MADE BETWEEN CORRECTIONS AND THE MEDICAL MODEL. A BIBLIOGRAPHY IS INCLUDED.
