Abstract
THE AUTHOR FIRST DESCRIBES THE NEW CAREER PROGRAM OF BRISTOL, IN WHICH YOUNG OFFENDERS ARE TRAINED FOR MEANINGFUL WORK IN THE SOCIAL SERVICES. THE WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS EXAMINED SUCH ISSUES AS THE WAYS IN WHICH SOCIAL SERVICE CLIENT EMPLOYMENT AS SOCIAL WORKERS MIGHT IMPROVE AGENCY FUNCTIONS; THE TYPE OF CLIENT TRAINING NEEDED; PROBLEMS OF JOB OPPORTUNITIES AND RECRUITMENT; AND THE THREAT POSED TO SOCIAL WORKERS BY THE CLIENTAS-COLLEAGUE IDEA.
