THE AUTHOR STATES THAT THERE ARE TOO MANY PROBLEMS AND UNANSWERED QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE FEASIBILITY AND DESIREABILITY OF THIS PROGRAM.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR REFERS TO A LEAA FUNDED STUDY WHICH IS NOW IN PROGRESS TO DETERMINE THE PRACTICABILITY OF PROVIDING THE INDIVIDUAL CITIZEN WITH A WRIST MOUNTED ALARM DEVICE. THE IDEA IN SIMPLE TERMS IS TO GIVE EACH PERSON A MINIATURE RADIO TRANSMITTER WHICH HE OR SHE CAN ACTIVATE IF PHYSICALLY ATTACKED, WANTS TO REPORT A FIRE, OR REQUIRES MEDICAL HELP. THE CODED SIGNAL, UNIQUE TO THE PARTICULAR PROBLEM AND INDIVIDUAL WOULD BE PICKED UP BY A RADIO RECEIVER AND RETRANSMITTED TO A PROTECTIVE AGENCY VIA A POWER LINE CARRIER SYSTEM. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
