Major issues and developments in the field of corrections during 1998 are reviewed that focus on efforts to streamline the work of correctional administrators and the use of new technologies in managing correctional operations.
Abstract
The year in review is organized into four parts. The first part deals with management issues, including facility management, policy, offender management, employee management, health, and prison industry issues. The second part addresses general and special education issues, as well as recidivism and reintegration issues. The third part covers the use of technology in correctional operations, with emphasis on products, offender tracking, facility enhancement, and communication. The fourth part contains summaries of facility management, offender management, employee management, health, and general and special education cases.
