TWO ACTUAL BANK ROBBERIES FILMED BY SECURITY CAMERAS, HIGHLIGHT THIS MOVIE DIRECTED TO BANK EMPLOYEES INSTRUCTING THEM ABOUT ROBBERY PREVENTATIVE MEASURES, AND WHAT TO DO DURING AND AFTER A ROBBERY.
Abstract
THERE IS AN AVERAGE OF 1500 BANK ROBBERIES EACH YEAR. BANK ROBBERIES ARE CONSIDERED BAD RISKS BY MOST PROFESSIONAL CRIMINALS BECAUSE OF THE INVOLVEMENT BY THREE LEVELS OF POLICE - LOCAL, STATE AND FBI. MOST BANK ROBBERIES ARE COMMITTED BY AMATEURS BETWEEN THE AGES OF 17 AND 50, AND MOST ROBBERIES OCCUR ON FRIDAY BETWEEN 1 AND 3 O'CLOCK. TIPS ARE MADE ON PREVENTIVE MEASURES BANKS CAN ADOPT, SUCH AS THE USE OF MODERN SECURE VAULTS, ALARM SYSTEMS, AND PHOTOGUARD CAMERAS. IT IS EMPHASIZED THAT BANK EMPLOYEES HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO PROTECT THE FUNDS IN THEIR CHARGE AT ALL TIMES. THE MOVIE SHOWS HOW THIS OBLIGATION CAN BE CARRIED OUT BY EMPLOYEES WITHOUT ENDANGERING THE TELLERS OR CUSTOMERS. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT DURING A BANK ROBBERY, THE TELLER SHOULD TRY TO GET A GOOD DESCRIPTION OF THE ROBBER AND HIS GUN. OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS INCLUDE KEEPING AN ARMED GUARD INSIDE THE BANK AND MAINTAINING A MINIMUM OF CASH IN THE TELLER'S CAGE WITH SOME OF IT PREVIOUSLY REPORTED AND RECORDED BILLS.
