STATISTICAL STUDY OF 296 SWISS MALES AND 59 FEMALES SENTENCED FOR FRAUD IN TERMS OF PERSONAL AND FAMILY BACKGROUND, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL FACTORS, MOTIVE, VICTIM-RELATED FACTORS AND RECIDIVISM.
Abstract
TYPICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF JUVENILE SWINDLERS WERE FOUND TO BE INSTABILITY, LACK OF WILLPOWER AND THE DESIRE TO FEEL IMPORTANT. THE STUDY INDICATED THAT ONE THIRD OF THE MALES WHO WERE SENTENCED FOR FRAUD WHEN QUITE YOUNG BECAME HABITUAL AND POSSIBLY INCURABLE CRIMINALS. THE RECIDIVISM RECORD FOR THE FEMALES WAS NOT AS BAD. ALL THE YOUNG OFFENDERS WITH LONG RECORDS OF RECIDIVISM HAD LACKED LOVING, CONCERNED PARENTAL CARE AS CHILDREN. NUMEROUS CASE HISTORIES ARE INCLUDED. --IN GERMAN
