INTENDED FOR BUSINESSES AND INDUSTRY, THIS ARTICLE OUTLINES RECOMMENDED PREPARATIONS AND PROCEDURES FOR DEALING WITH CIVIL DISTURBANCES AND OTHER EMERGENCY SITUATIONS.
Abstract
THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING A WELL-FORMULATED PLAN FOR EMERGENCY PROCEDURES IS STRESSED. IT IS ALSO EMPHASIZED THAT DURING MAJOR DISTURBANCES, BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY MUST BE PREPARED FOR SELF-HELP, SINCE PUBLIC SAFETY ORGANIZATIONS MAY BE OVERBURDENED. SUGGESTIONS ARE OFFERRED ON TRAINING EMPLOYEES FOR EMERGENCY SITUATIONS, COORDINATING EMERGENCY OPERATIONS WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT, PLANNING FOR EMERGENCY CONTROL CENTERS, AND PLANNING FOR EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS. ALSO DISCUSSED ARE SECURITY PROTECTION PROCEDURES, FIRE PROTECTION, USE OF BUILDING DESIGNS WHICH INCORPORATE SECURITY FEATURES, AND RECORDS PROTECTION.
