EFFECTS OF THE INTRODUCTION OF A BOOKLET CONCERNING YOUTH AND THE LAW INTO PUBLIC JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL CLASSES IN NORTH CAROLINA.
Abstract
THE REPORT IS BASED ON A QUASI-EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN IN WHICH A TEST-RETEST MEASUREMENTS APPROACH WAS EMPLOYED ON A CONTROL GROUP AND AN EXPERIMENTAL GROUP. THE BOOKLET APPEARS TO HAVE INDUCED MILD INCREASES IN KNOWLEDGE OF NORTH CAROLINA LAW AND ASPECTS OF THE GENERAL LEGAL SYSTEM. CHANGES IN STUDENTS' ATTITUDES TOWARD THE LAW WERE NOT CLEAR.
