This annual report highlights the activities and accomplishments of the Youth Correctional Institution in Annandale, N.J., during fiscal year 1976-77.
Abstract
Data are given on admissions, releases, and inmate population; personnel; inmate discipline and morale; inmate classification; and work opportunities. Other institutional services covered are education programs, the food service, health services, the recreation program, facility maintenance and repair, and the off-grounds residential service units. Farm operations and future developments are also mentioned. During the year, a full-time academic teacher and a vocational teacher were hired to teach at the Stokes Forest Unit. Tutoring and job placement programs were also initiated. There were 984 inmates assigned to the institution, 92 less than the 1,076 received during the previous fiscal year. There were 291 employees at Annandale as of June 30, 1977, as compared to 295 employees last year. Inmate morale was high, and few major incidents were reported. A total of 60 inmates were placed in jobs, while 46 were referred to other agencies. Future plans in the area of academic education are mentioned. No references are supplied.
