PLANNING OF YOUTH SERVICES PROGRAMS AND PARTICIPATION OF AGENCIES IN THE STATE OF UTAH.
Abstract
THE STAFF EVALUATES ALL STATE AGENCIES IN THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM AND FOCUS ON ONE URBAN AND ONE RURAL COMMUNITY - SALT LAKE CITY AND PRICE, RESPECTIVELY. THE PLANNING PROJECT WAS DEVOTED TO DEFINING DATA REQUIREMENTS AND COLLECTING NECESSARY DATA, TO INTENSIVE ANALYSIS OF THE DATA, TO SUBSTANTIVE PLANNING. JUVENILE DELINQUENCY WAS DIVIDED INTO EIGHT YOUTH SERVICE AREAS AND EACH ASSIGNED TO A TASK FORCE COMPOSED OF THE BROAD COMMUNITY REPRESENTATION. THOSE TASK FORCES WERE JUDICIAL, POLICE, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH, YOUTH INVOLVEMENT, COMMUNITY SERVICES FOR YOUTH, EDUCATION, SOCIAL SERVICES, AND CORRECTIONS AND AFTERCARE. THESE WERE COMBINED TO ANALYZE THE DATA PREVIOUSLY GATHERED ON PREVENTION, POLICING, ADJUDICATION, AND REHABILITATION. EACH OF THESE TASK FORCES PRIORITIZED THE RECOMMENDATIONS MADE BY ITS MEMBERS.
