THE POLICE CHIEF OF SAN CARLOS, CALIF., CONTENDS THAT POLICE ADMINISTRATORS MUST KEEP PACE WITH CHANGING TIMES BY REJECTING OUTMODED CONCEPTS AND ACCEPTING NEW IDEAS.
Abstract
THE AREAS OF RECRUITMENT, TRAINING, EDUCATION, ADMINISTRATION, COURT RELATIONS, AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS ARE POINTED OUT AS PARTICULARLY IN NEED OF REFORM. TWO INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO POLICE ADMINISTRATION ARE OFFERED- PROMOTING IMAGINATIVE INDIVIDUALS IN POLICE DEPARTMENTS TO ADMINISTRATIVE INTERN POSITIONS AND HIRING STAFF SPECIALISTS FROM COLLEGES TO FUNCTION AS ASSISTANTS TO THE POLICE CHIEF.
