Abstract
THIS ARTICLE SURVEYS THE HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF SUCH JURISDICTION. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH EXAMINATION OF EARLY TREATY ARRANGEMENTS, CONGRESSIONAL LEGISLATION SUPERSEDING THE TREATY PROVISIONS, AND EARLY SUPREME COURT DECISIONS WHICH SHAPED THE CONCEPT OF CRIMINAL JURISDICTION OVER INDIAN LANDS.
