This online newsletter provides an overview and update of recent programs, conferences, and grant-related initiatives under the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP) in support of the criminal justice community.
Abstract
In this issue of the Justice Resource Update several programs and initiatives under the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP) are featured. Highlights of these programs and initiatives include: (1) the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) announces the availability of State and local criminal justice funding under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program with a focus on evidence-based programs in criminal justice; (2) the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force launched StopFraud.com in April 2010 where consumers can learn how to protect themselves from fraud and report fraud; (3) Delaware and Florida implement the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA); and (4) the Assistant Attorney General of OJP testified before a subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee about the OJP fiscal year for 2011 highlighting four themes. The Update also provides a list of upcoming events sponsored by OJP such as National Institute of Justice (NIJ) conference on the effectiveness of programs and policies in crime and justice, Enforcing Victims' Rights training hosted by the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) in June 2010, the National Technologies for Corrections Conference sponsored by the National Law Enforcement and Corrections Technology Center scheduled for June 2010 and focusing on the innovative use of existing correctional technologies, and the National Forum on Criminal Justice and Public Safety to be held in August 2010 in Florida.
