THE INFORMATION AND PRESS SERVICE DIVISION (IPD) OF THE WEST BERLIN (FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY) POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS ESTABLISHED AS PART OF THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF POLICE AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PUBLIC RELATIONS.
Abstract
IPD WAS FOUNDED IN 1974 AND CONSISTS OF TWO MAJOR DEPARTMENTS AND AN ADMINISTRATIVE SUBDIVISION. THE A-GROUP DEPARTMENT, WHICH IS DIVIDED INTO THREE SUBGROUPS, MONITORS EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL POLICE INFORMATION AND ARRANGES GUESTS' TOURS, SCHEDULES, AND ACCOMMODATIONS. A-GROUP MEMBERS MAINTAIN THE MUSEUM OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE, DEVELOP POLICE PRESENTATIONS AND BROCHURES, AND PREPARE MATERIAL FOR PRESS CONFERENCES. THEY ALSO MAINTAIN THE FLOW OF INFORMATION AMONG POLICE DISTRICTS, DEPARTMENTS, AND BETWEEN MANAGEMENT AND STAFF AND KEEP A POLICE ARCHIVES. THE B-GROUP IS ACTUALLY A PRESS DIVISION AND CONSISTS OF TWO WORK GROUPS. THE DIRECTORS ARE EXPERIENCED JOURNALISTS, AND THE GROUP RETAINS PROFESSIONAL CAMERA AND STUDIO PERSONNEL. ONE OF THE SUBGROUPS IS RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING OPEN LINES OF CONTACT WITH LOCAL PRINT MEDIA AND THE SECOND GROUP IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DOING FILM AND RADIO WORK. THE DIVISION HAS A COMPLETE FILM AND SOUND STUDIO. --IN DANISH. (DAG)
