BY VIRTUE OF PERSONALITY, JOB, AND AUTHORITY, THE POLICEMAN IS HIGHLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO ACCEPTING, INITIATING, AND TRANSMITTING UNVERIFIED REPORTS.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR FURTHER CONTENDS THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS SERVED TO HAMPER THE POLICEMEN'S OVERALL EFFECTIVENESS IN MAKING RATIONAL, INTELLIGENT DECISIONS AND ACTING IN A RESPONSIBLE MANNER, ESPECIALLY DURING TIMES OF CRISIS. THE AUTHOR RECOMMENDS IMPROVED POLICE COMMUNICATIONS IN THE FORM OF PLANNING AND EQUIPMENT, MORE CAREFUL SCREENING PROCEDURES TO WEED OUT LESS STABLE APPLICANTS FOR POLICE WORK, BETTER POLICE TRAINING IN THE SOCIAL CONTEXT IN WHICH THEY CARRY OUT THEIR WORK, AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF MEANINGFUL POLICE-COMMUNITY RELATIONS.
