THIS ARTICLE DEALS WITH THE DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES FOLLOWED BY THE PRISON AUTHORITIES IN THE LARGEST MAXIMUM SECURITY PRISON IN ISRAEL.
Abstract
A DETAILED ANALYSIS WAS MADE OF THE DISCIPLINARY HEARINGS IN THE COURSE OF ONE YEAR. IN ADDITION, INTERVIEWS WERE CONDUCTED WITH ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICIALS, GUARDS, AND TREATMENT PERSONNEL IN THE PRISON SERVICE, WITH VISITING JUDGES AND WITH A GROUP OF PRISONERS IN ORDER TO ASSESS THE ATTITUDES AND PERCEPTIONS OF THESE VARIOUS GROUPS IN REGARD TO THE DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES. THE RESULTS OF THIS INVESTIGATION WERE COMPARED WITH A SIMILAR RESEARCH PROJECT CARRIED OUT IN THE STATE PENITIENTIARY OF RHODE ISLAND IN THE UNITED STATES. --IN HEBREW. SUMMARY IN ENGLISH
