MONOGRAPHS DESIGNED TO AID ATTORNEYS REPRESENTING INMATES BY GIVING A CONCISE PICTURE OF THE PRESENT STATE OF THE LAW IN EACH OF THE AREAS COVERED.
Abstract
THE FIVE MONOGRAPHS IN THIS PUBLICATION ARE THE FIRST IN A PLANNED SERIES OF PAPERS WHICH WILL CULMINATE IN A PRISONERS' RIGHTS LITIGATION MANUAL. THE FOLLOWING SUBJECT AREAS ARE EXAMINED - DUE PROCESS IN PRISON DISCIPLINARY HEARINGS, THE RIGHT OF INMATES TO A LAW LIBRARY, ENFORCING PRISONERS' RIGHTS TO MEDICAL TREATMENT, PRISON LITIGATION REMEDIES, AND CHALLENGES TO PRISON MAIL REGULATIONS. THE MOST RECENT CASE PRECEDENTS ARE ANALYZED IN EACH OF THE MONOGRAPHS AND PRACTICAL SUGGESTIONS ARE OFFERED FOR FUTURE LITIGATION. THE APPENDICES TO THE MONOGRAPHS CONTAIN A VARIETY OF USEFUL CORRECTIONAL INFORMATION. FOR EXAMPLE, THE APPENDICES WHICH FOLLOW THE DISCUSSION OF THE RIGHT OF INMATES TO A LAW LIBRARY INCLUDE LISTS OF RECOMMENDED LIBRARY COLLECTIONS ASSEMBLED BY THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF LAW LIBRARIES. ALTHOUGH THIS PUBLICATION IS PRIMARILY INTENDED FOR THE ATTORNEY, IT SHOULD BE USEFUL TO THE CORRECTIONAL ADMINISTRATOR. (SNI ABSTRACT)
