The Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program is created to promote cooperative efforts between the criminal justice and mental health systems. The program funds grants that enable mentally ill individuals who have committed low-level crimes to obtain treatment and stop cycling through the justice system.
In 2016, BJA announces the Police-Mental Health Collaboration Toolkit, which gathers best practices and resources to help law enforcement agencies partner with mental health providers to respond appropriately and safely to people with mental illnesses.
